The Ministry of Defence has announced a national essay writing competition on the topic "Operation Sindoor – Redefining India’s Policy Against Terrorism." The contest, held in partnership with MyGov India, runs from June 1 to June 30, 2025.

Young writers across the country are invited to submit their essays in either Hindi or English, with a limit of one entry per person.

The top three winners will receive a cash prize of ₹10,000. But that’s not all, they’ll also get an exclusive invitation to attend the 78th Independence Day celebrations at the Red Fort in Delhi.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter), the ministry shared:

"Ministry of Defence invites young minds to make their voices heard! Participate in the MoD & @mygovindia bilingual essay contest on #OperationSindoor – Redefining India’s Policy Against #Terrorism."

"Top 3 winners will receive Rs 10,000 each and get an exclusive chance to attend the 78th #IndependenceDay celebrations at #RedFort, Delhi!"

Operation Sindoor was launched on May 7, 2025, as a response to a deadly terror attack on April 22 in Pahalgam, where 26 people lost their lives. The operation targeted nine terror camps located in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir.

It has since become a key part of India’s ongoing efforts to deal with terrorism, both within the country and across the border.

Under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the central government has taken a stronger stand against terrorism. Officials have described Operation Sindoor as a turning point in how India handles terror threats.

According to the government, the country has drawn a “new red line” and created a “new normal” in dealing with both internal and cross-border terrorism.
