The BJP scored a big win against AAP on Saturday, leading in over 45 seats. In a major setback for AAP, party chief Arvind Kejriwal lost to BJP’s Parvesh Verma. This marks BJP’s return to power in Delhi after 27 years.

The people of Delhi have spoken! On February 5, millions of residents stepped out to vote and decide who will run their city. The fight for power has been intense, with three major political parties – the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), and the Congress – battling for victory.

Who are the main contenders?

This year’s election has been a tough contest. The AAP, led by Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, is trying to stay in power. However, the BJP has made a strong comeback and is hoping to take charge of the capital. Meanwhile, the Congress party is struggling to regain its lost position after a decade of defeats in Delhi.

How many people voted?

The Election Commission reported that 60.42% of eligible voters turned up to cast their votes across Delhi’s 70 constituencies. Some areas were more active than others. North East Delhi saw the highest voter participation at 66.25%, while South East Delhi had the lowest turnout at 56.16%.

What do exit polls predict?

Exit polls– surveys that predict election results based on voter responses – show a mixed picture. Most of them suggest that the BJP is ahead and could form the next government, with estimates of winning 51 to 60 seats. However, some polls indicate that AAP might still have a chance. Congress, on the other hand, is not expected to make any major gains, according to most predictions.

Many well-known politicians are competing in this election. AAP’s Arvind Kejriwal and BJP’s Parvesh Verma are contested from New Delhi. In Kalkaji, it’s a three-way battle between AAP’s Atishi, BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri, and Congress’s Alka Lamba. Other major candidates include AAP’s Manish Sisodia in Jangpura and BJP’s Kapil Mishra in Karawal Nagar.
