A 40-year-old woman from the Dalit community in Mainpuri, Uttar Pradesh, was reportedly raped at gunpoint. This happened in front of her four-year-old son. According to a Times of India report, the woman had gone to get a ₹20,000 loan from a man of a different caste. This man had offered the loan because her husband was having money problems.

The police have filed a First Information Report (FIR) against the accused man, and they are currently investigating the incident. The police officer in charge, Anuj Kumar, told the Times of India that they have filed a case against the accused man, who is from the same village.

The case includes charges of rape under the new criminal law (Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita - BNS) and also under the SC/ST Act, which protects Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes. This was done after the woman made a complaint. She has been taken to the hospital for medical tests. The police officer also said that they will arrest the accused soon and that the investigation is ongoing.

In her police complaint, which she filed on Monday, the woman said she saw the accused man near a bridge while she was taking her son to get a haircut. He offered her the loan money and asked her to come with him on his motorcycle. She and her son got on the bike, and the man took them to a quiet, out-of-the-way place. There, he raped her. The report also stated that he threatened to shoot her child if she tried to fight back.

The report also says that the woman didn't say anything immediately because she was scared. However, the man kept calling her and threatening her. Later, she found the strength to tell her husband what had happened. Her husband then took her to the local police station, and they filed the complaint. It turns out that the accused man sells things like cement and bricks in their village and already knows the woman and her husband.
