A 46-year-old air hostess has alleged that she was sexually assaulted by staff members of a private hospital in Gurugram while being treated in the ICU and placed on a ventilator, police said on Tuesday. Officials reported that the woman was admitted to the hospital after falling ill following a swim at the hotel where she was staying. During her stay in the intensive care unit, she claimed to have been assaulted by members of the hospital staff. She was discharged on Sunday, April 14.
The woman claimed that on April 6, while she was on a ventilator in the intensive care unit, she was sexually assaulted by some hospital staff. She revealed the incident to her husband after being discharged and later filed a complaint with the police.
"On April 6, I was on a ventilator when some hospital staff sexually assaulted me," her complaint stated.
Police said they are reviewing CCTV footage from the hospital to identify the alleged perpetrator. Based on her statement, an FIR has been registered against unidentified staff members at the Sadar police station under relevant sections.
Police have investigated the incident, and statements are being recorded. Authorities have assured that strict legal action will follow if the allegations are found to be true. According to the police, the victim’s statement has been officially recorded in court. The police are checking the hospital's CCTV footage and expect to identify the accused soon. The investigation is still ongoing, and the police have said the accused will be arrested shortly.
Other case
In another case earlier this April, a school van driver was arrested for sexually assaulting a 9-year-old girl who studied at a private school in Delhi’s Adarsh Nagar. The driver had been abusing the girl for about one and a half years while bringing her home from school every afternoon.
A senior police officer said the incident came to light when the Class 4 girl told her mother about the abuse. After speaking with the family, the mother went to the police and filed a complaint.
