A wedding engagement ceremony in Bulandshahr, Uttar Pradesh, took a dramatic turn when a woman interrupted the event, claiming to be the bride’s girlfriend. She alleged that they had been in a live-in relationship for four years and that the bride had rejected three marriage proposals for her sake. The situation led to a heated argument, police intervention, and eventually the cancellation of the wedding.

A shocking disruption at the ceremony

The bride, who has a Master of Arts degree, was engaged to a man from Aligarh’s Quarsi area. The engagement took place at the Ruby Hotel in the Gandhi Park police station area. As the couple stood on stage, the woman, identified as Bina, approached them. She took the bride’s hand and tried to lead her away, which caused a confrontation.

Bina said she had been in a romantic relationship with the bride for a long time, but the bride said this was not true. Bina even showed what she believed was proof, but the bride did not agree and left with her family. The argument got worse, and the police had to get involved. The fight went on for a long time, and in the end, the groom’s family decided to cancel the wedding.

A relationship that led to controversy

Bina and the bride met at a coaching center and became friends. Their bond grew stronger during a wedding in 2021. According to Bina, their relationship developed over time, and they eventually started living together. She stated, “We have been in a live-in relationship for four years. When my sister got married in 2021, our conversation started. She used to call me to her house. I told her that this was not acceptable in society, but she did not listen.”

Bina also said that she had tried to talk to the bride’s mother multiple times, but her attempts were met with threats of self-harm from the bride. “I then told her that we should inform our parents and live together. She said that if we did not live together, then we would run away,” Bina shared.

She further revealed that the bride had convinced her to reject several marriage proposals. However, when Bina’s family arranged a marriage for her, things took a more serious turn. “Recently, my brother arranged a match for me, and three or four months ago, I became pregnant. When I shared the news and showed her photos, she insisted that I must find a way to stop the marriage, regardless of the circumstances,” she said.

Bina also claimed that in desperation, the bride attempted to take her own life. “Distraught, she took her mother’s saree and attempted to hang herself from the ceiling fan. Her last words were a plea for me to break off the marriage,” she recalled.

Now, with the bride’s wedding approaching, Bina pleaded with her to reconsider. “I reminded her that she ended my marriage and implored her to help me in return, but my pleas fell on deaf ears. That is why I am here today,” she explained.

Wedding called off

Following the dramatic confrontation, the groom’s family decided to cancel the wedding. The groom stated, “The wedding was canceled because my fiancée had been in a same-sex relationship.”
