Almost every newlywed couple dreams of having a family in the future, but for one groom in Uttar Pradesh's Prayagraj district, it happened much earlier than expected. Only two days after the wedding, his bride surprised everyone by giving birth to a baby, leaving the whole family in a state of confusion.

On February 24, the baraat of the groom arrived in Jasra village, where the bride's family welcomed it with great enthusiasm. The wedding was a grand one, with traditional ceremonies and celebrations going on late into the night. On the next day, February 25, the bride was taken to her in-laws' house, where she was given a warm welcome and usual post-wedding rituals were performed.

All was going well as in-laws and neighbors visited the new bride to welcome her, and the mood was festive. But within 24 hours, the mood drastically changed.

The bride began her day on February 26 by making tea for her in-laws, maintaining the festive vibe at home. But in the evening, she suddenly developed excruciating pain in the abdomen and started sobbing in agony. Panicked, her in-laws took her to Karchana CHC, anticipating a typical medical crisis.

To everyone's surprise, physicians told the family that the bride was pregnant and needed to deliver immediately. Within two hours, she had a baby. Instead of joy, the news put the groom's family into a state of shock, unaware as they were about her pregnancy.

The families of the groom were angry and blamed the parents of the bride for misleading them. The bride's mother was confronted by the groom's mother, who requested to know the reason why they had kept a secret of this importance. the bride’s family insisted that the couple had been in a relationship before marriage.

“The marriage was arranged in May last year, and since then, they have been in contact,” the bride’s father stated. However, the groom strongly denied this claim, asserting, “My marriage was fixed only four months ago, in October. I will not accept this girl now.” His father also refused to take the bride back and demanded the return of all wedding gifts and possessions exchanged during the ceremony, warning of legal action if they were not returned.

Meanwhile, the bride’s mother accused the groom’s family of taking dowry and then abandoning her daughter. “If they refuse to take my daughter back, we will take legal action. We will raise the child ourselves, but she is still taking the groom’s name. If he does not accept her, she will die,” she claimed.

The village panchayat discussed the issue and decided that the bride would return to her maternal home with the child. However, with both families refusing to back down, a legal battle seems likely.
