A Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) employee, Manav Sharma, died by suicide on February 24. He was found hanging from a ceiling fan at his home in Agra.
In a video recorded on his phone before his death, Manav blamed his wife, Nikita Sharma, and her alleged affair as the reason for his decision. However, Nikita has denied these claims, saying that Manav was disturbed and unable to move on from her past.
She also mentioned that after he found out about it, he became violent, engaged in self-harm, and started drinking excessively. Nikita said that on the night of his death, she had urged Manav’s sister, Akansha, to check on him.
Leaked WhatsApp chats reveal conversation between wife and sister
New WhatsApp chats between Nikita and Akansha have surfaced, shedding light on their conversation just hours before Manav’s death.
At around 2:00 AM, Nikita messaged Akansha, telling her that Manav was drunk and not listening to her.
Akansha replied, “It’s okay. Ignore. Sleep.”
Nikita then told her that during a video call, she had seen Manav sitting on a chair placed on the bed, with a piece of cloth wrapped around his neck and another tied to the fan. She also warned Akansha that Manav might take his own life.
With this, Nikita repeatedly asked Akansha to talk to him; Akansha reassured her, saying nothing would happen, and told her to “be strong” and “relax.”
“Nikky, please relax. Tujhe strong hona padega ab [You need to be strong now],” Akansha said.
Nikita explained that she was at her parents’ house because her father was unwell, and she could not share Manav’s situation with them. She feared that leaving Manav alone might lead to something drastic.
The incident has raised serious concerns, and police are investigating all aspects of the case, including the claims made by both sides.
