An incident happened in Agra, where a Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) employee, Manav Sharma, died by suicide. His family says he took this extreme step because of alleged harassment by his wife, Nikita Sharma. The incident took place on the morning of February 24, when Manav was found hanging in his home.

Before his death, Manav recorded an emotional video in which he expressed his distress and pleaded for society to think about the struggles of men. His family tried to file a complaint with the police, but they were allegedly turned away as the officers cited their involvement in Maha Shivratri duties. The family later escalated the matter to the CM portal, after which the police registered a case based on a WhatsApp complaint.

Manav's emotional video before death

In his final moments, Manav recorded a heartbreaking video that lasted nearly seven minutes. In the video, he was seen crying, with a cloth wrapped around his neck and another tied to the ceiling fan. He made an appeal to the authorities, saying, “So, this is for the authorities. Authorities, as in police and law enforcement... The law needs to protect men, or otherwise there will come a time when there will be no men left. No man on whom you can shift blame...

After pausing for a few seconds, he continued, “Let me share my situation. It’s the same as many others... I found out that my wife was sleeping with someone else. But never mind, let it be.”

Manav then spoke about his pain, saying, “Someone please talk about men. They are very lonely.” He also apologised to his parents, saying, “Dad, sorry, Mummy, sorry... But guys, please understand that as soon as I go, everything will be fine. Everything will get better once I die. So, let me go.”

He also shared that he had attempted suicide before. “I have always been a quitter. I have attempted suicide multiple times,” he said, showing scars on his wrists from past attempts. Before ending the video, he pleaded, “Don’t touch my parents. Okay then, peace out.”

Family and wife share different accounts

Manav's father, Narendra Kumar Sharma, who is a retired Air Force officer, shared that Manav was his only son and worked as a recruitment manager at TCS in Mumbai. According to him, Manav’s marriage was troubled, with frequent fights and threats from his wife. He believes these problems led his son to take such a drastic step.

Manav had traveled from Mumbai to Agra a day before his death. He dropped his wife off at her parents’ house before returning home, where he was later found dead.

Nikita Sharma, Manav’s wife, has shared her side of the story. She claims that Manav struggled to accept her past and became emotionally unstable after learning about it. According to Nikita, he turned to alcohol and often became violent. She also stated that she informed her in-laws about his behaviour, but they ignored her concerns, asking her to handle the situation herself.

Nikita further claimed that she had saved Manav from suicide three times before. “I pulled him back from the edge and brought him here. But in the end, he was the one who left me at my parents’ house,” she said.

She also alleged that she tried to check on him on the day of his death but could not reach him. “I kept calling my in-laws to check on him, but my calls went unanswered. After his final rites, they threw me out, blaming me for his death,” she said.

Police investigation underway

Following Manav’s tragic death, the Agra police have now launched an investigation. Initially, the family’s attempt to file a complaint was rejected, but after the matter was raised through the CM portal, the police registered a case via a WhatsApp complaint.

The case is currently under investigation, and authorities are looking into the claims made by both the family and the wife. Manav's video will play a crucial role in the inquiry, as it directly points to the emotional distress he was experiencing.
