A 12-year-old boy named Shailendra woke up in the night when blood splashed on his face. When he opened his eyes, he saw his mother, Usha Devi, hitting his father’s neck again and again with a sharp weapon called a dabiya (which looks like a garden knife).

Usha Devi then threatened Shailendra, saying she would kill him too if he told anyone. The woman, Usha Devi, is 35 years old and lives in the Purnea district, of Bihar. She later admitted that she killed her husband, Balo Das, who was 45 years old. Balo Das used to work as a labourer in Punjab, while his wife and their three children stayed in Bihar. When he found out that his wife had sold their house land without telling him, he returned to the village. After this, they often fought.

While Balo was working away, Usha Devi started a relationship with another man from the village. She sold the land because her lover asked her to, and she wanted to run away with him. But after her husband came back, her plan failed. The couple’s son, Shailendra, saw everything. He said, "Around 10:30 at night, blood splashed on my face. I saw my mother hitting my father’s neck." When he tried to shout for help, his mother threatened to kill him too if he spoke.

The boy, Shailendra, said he waited until morning to go to his aunt’s house and tell her about the murder. After that, the villagers gathered, and they called the police. Shailendra said, "Mother killed father because someone influenced her. My father never beat her."
