The police in Basaveshwaranagar, Bengaluru, have arrested a woman named Savita for cheating more than 20 women out of over ₹30 crore. Police said Savita met these women at kitty parties (social gatherings) in the city and became friendly with them. She told them that she had strong connections with top politicians, including the Chief Minister, Deputy Chief Minister, and Minister MB Patil.
She then took large amounts of money from these women, saying she would invest it and give them high returns. She also promised to get them gold from the US at cheap prices. The women gave her money ranging from ₹50 lakh to ₹2.5 crore each. But later, she did not return the money and kept making excuses to avoid repayment.
Earlier, a case had already been filed against Savita at the Govindarajanagar police station. She was arrested then but later got bail. Even after that, police say she kept cheating people in the same way, which led to her new arrest by Basaveshwaranagar police.
One woman named Kusuma filed a complaint saying she lost almost ₹95 lakh to Savita and her group over two years. Kusuma said most of the money was given in cash, without any legal papers, because she trusted Savita and believed her spiritual claims.
Kusuma, a housewife and former teacher, said that by 2022, she and her husband had saved ₹24 lakh. They gave a big part of this to Savita, who promised to make it four times bigger in two years. Savita claimed that a person called ‘Lord Satish ji’ had blessed the plan.
Kusuma said she gave large amounts of cash at Savita’s house, in front of Savita’s mother Kamini and daughter. She also transferred money to other people named Satish, Sridhar, Valmika, Darshan, Lokesh, and Punith. In January 2024, Kusuma was told about a new project called ‘Uday TV’, which promised to double her money. She got ₹32 lakh in cash but said most of it was again taken away by Savita to give to others.
When Kusuma kept asking for her money back, she got no help. In June 2025, when she went to Savita’s house to demand repayment, Savita threatened her and said, “If you come near my house again, I will show you a ghost.” Out of the total ₹95 lakh she gave, Kusuma has received only ₹2.97 lakh back so far. Police are still investigating the case.
