Straight out of crime thriller! A man who had insulted a mother 10 years ago was recently tracked down and murdered in cold blood by the victim's son and his friends. The revenge-fueled murder was found when a social media post helped police identify and track down the accused.
A decade-long search for revenge
The story begins a decade ago, when Manoj, a coconut water seller, reportedly thrashed a woman during a local dispute. Her son, Sonu Kashyap, never forgot the insult. According to police, Manoj fled the area soon after, but Sonu began a long and determined search to find him.
Years passed, but Sonu’s anger didn’t fade. Around three months ago, he finally spotted Manoj in the Munshi Pulia area of Lucknow. From then on, Sonu began carefully tracking his movements and routines.
To carry out the plan, Sonu needed help. He brought in four friends, Ranjeet, Adil, Salamu, and Rehmat Ali, and promised them a party once the job was done.
On May 22, they found the perfect opportunity. As Manoj was shutting his shop and was alone, the group attacked him with iron rods and left him badly injured. He later died while undergoing treatment.
Initially, the police had little to go on. Though the suspects were caught on CCTV, they remained untraceable for weeks.
However, after the murder, Sonu kept his promise. He threw a liquor party for his friends to celebrate. Photos from the party were posted on social media, and that turned out to be their big mistake.
One of the suspects in the CCTV footage was identified from the photos. He was seen wearing the same orange t-shirt during the crime and at the party, linking him directly to the murder scene.
Using the images, the police traced the suspects’ social media profiles and confirmed their identities. Soon after, all five accused were tracked down and arrested.
