A van driver employed by a private school was arrested for allegedly raping a four-year-old girl, a police official reported on Sunday. The accused, identified as Arif, aged 25, was taken into custody following the incident.
A case was registered on Friday against Arif and the school manager, Sandeep Kumar, under various legal sections. These include Sections 65(2) (committing rape on a woman under 12 years of age), 352 (intentional insult with the intent to provoke a breach of peace), and 351(2) (criminal intimidation) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), as well as provisions of the POCSO Act and the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.
Indiranagar Police Station SHO Sunil Kumar Tiwari stated, “The driver owned the vehicle, which was affiliated with the school.” The child’s mother reported that she had informed the school authorities about the driver, but “no action was taken in response.” No school administration staff have been arrested so far.
The accused driver has been sent to jail, and the police are continuing their investigation to uncover further details. This incident has raised serious concerns about child safety in school-affiliated transport services.
