A man allegedly killed his wife’s lover after catching them together in his house in the Shastri Park area of New Delhi. The accused named Ajmat is now detained by the police.The police received the information about the incident at the Shastri Park police station, prompting the team to rush to the location.

The victim was initially taken to Jag Pravesh Chandra Hospital, where he was examined before being referred to Guru Teg Bahadur Hospital. At that time, he could not give any statement, according to ANI. Later, the Shastri Park police were told that the victim identified as Ritik Verma had died from his injuries.

About the incident

It is being reported that the accused's wife had been having an affair with 21-year-old Ritik Verma, the deceased, for the past few months.

According to the Delhi Police, when Ajmat returned home, he discovered his wife with her lover. This enraged him, leading him to assault both his wife and her lover. The severity of the violence resulted in the lover, Ritik, sustaining a fatal blunt injury in the head which led to his death.

According to Ritik's uncle, Bunty, the accused severely beat Ritik. Bunty told the news agency PTI that the accused also pulled out Ritik's nails and inflicted severe torture on him. Ritik had injuries all over his body.

A neighbour reported that the accused attacked both Ritik and the woman and added there was more than one person involved in beating Ritik. The neighbour also mentioned that Ritik worked as a driver and was the only child of his parents.

The police added sections 103(1) of the Bharat Nyay Sanhita (BNS) to the case registered at Shastri Park police station and started their investigation.

"The police team received information at Shastri Park police station. When they arrived at the scene, they found that Ritik's relatives had already taken him to the hospital. The team went to JPC Hospital, where Ritik Verma (21 years old) was treated. After examination, he was sent to GTB Hospital for further treatment. The patient was unable to give any statement," the police said.

Around 9 PM, the police at Shastri Park received information from GTB Hospital that Ritik Verma had died from his injuries, the police said. They also mentioned that the motive behind the murder appeared to be 'revenge,' and the investigation is ongoing.
