The Jaipur police arrested Rajendra, also known as ‘Joker,’ a member of the Lawrence Bishnoi gang, on Tuesday. He was taken into custody from Bathinda jail in Punjab, where he was already imprisoned in connection with the murder of singer-politician Sidhu Moosewala.
Police sources revealed that Rajendra had plotted to extort money from two businessmen in Jaipur while in jail. He is also accused of recruiting new gang members through another Bishnoi gang member, ‘Madam Maya,’ who was arrested recently.
The Lawrence Bishnoi gang, infamous for crimes across the country, has over 700 shooters and is linked to high-profile murders, including Moosewala and politician Baba Siddique. Bishnoi remains in Sabarmati jail, Gujarat.
Who is Lawrence Bishnoi?
Lawrence Bishnoi, born as Balkaran Brar on February 12, 1993, is an Indian gangster who has been in jail since 2014. He faces multiple criminal charges, including extortion and murder, but he denies these allegations. His gang reportedly has over 700 shooters operating worldwide.
Bishnoi’s criminal journey began in Chandigarh between 2010 and 2012 during his involvement in student politics. Several cases were filed against him for attempted murder, robbery, trespassing, and assault. Of the seven cases registered, he was acquitted in four, and three are still pending.
While in jail, Bishnoi built alliances with other prisoners, helping him expand his gang. After his release, he connected with arms dealers and extended his operations. His activities intensified after his graduation in 2013, with accusations of targeting political rivals and involvement in violent acts during elections.
In 2014, Bishnoi had a gunfight with Rajasthan Police, leading to his arrest. Today, his group remains under scrutiny for numerous crimes, including high-profile murders.
