A 31-year-old man from India, Sai Kumar Kurremula, will spend 35 years in prison after being convicted of sexually exploiting multiple children. He used a fake online profile to befriend his victims and then blackmailed them with child pornography.
Sai Kumar Kurremula, an Indian national residing in Oklahoma, received a 35-year sentence for his crimes involving the online sexual abuse of children. He deceived his victims by pretending to be a teenager and then used illicit images to pressure them.
During his sentencing last week, U.S. District Judge Charles Goodwin sentenced Sai Kumar Kurremula to 35 years in federal prison, followed by a lifetime of supervised release. Emphasizing the severity of the crimes, Judge Goodwin stated that offences against vulnerable victims are among the most serious. He noted that Kurremula’s actions caused deep and lasting trauma to both the victims and their families, and the lengthy sentence reflects the seriousness of his crimes.
Last April, Sai Kumar Kurremula was arrested for sexually abusing children and sharing child pornography. The FBI started looking into him in October 2023 because of suspicious activity on a social media messaging app. They traced the account back to him. Court documents show he abused at least 19 young girls online. He pretended to be a teenage boy, usually between 13 and 15 years old, to trick them into trusting him. Then if they didn't do what he wanted, he threatened them and forced them to make more child pornography.
Kurremula admitted he was guilty. He said he sexually abused three young victims and sent child pornography. To make sure they did what he wanted, he threatened them. He said he would show one girl's parents naked pictures of her, threatened to shoot another girl's family, and threatened to share another girl's naked pictures and videos online.
The prosecutor, Troester, said Kurremula's horrible actions deserved the 35-year prison sentence. He warned that anyone who hurts children like this will face very serious punishment. The FBI agent, Goodwater, said Kurremula tricked the children into sending him inappropriate pictures for his pleasure. He said Kurremula's actions took away the children's innocence and caused them great harm.
