In Chhattisgarh, two women teachers at Hans Vahini Vidya Mandir School punished a four-year-old nursery student in a disturbing manner. The child was stripped, tied with a rope, and hung from a tree inside the school compound. The incident went viral after a video shot by a local resident surfaced online, drawing widespread anger.
The viral clip shows the little boy hanging from a tree, crying and calling for help. The two teachers, identified as Kajal Sahu and Anuradha Dewangan, are seen standing nearby, not responding to the child’s pain.
The video was recorded by someone from a rooftop close to the school.
The incident happened on Monday in Narayanpur village. According to reports, teacher Kajal Sahu was checking homework in the nursery class and became angry when she saw the child had not completed his work.
She allegedly pulled him out of the classroom, tied his T-shirt with a rope, and hung him from a tree within the school premises. Witnesses said the child kept crying and begging to be let down, but the teachers ignored him.
The child’s family accused the school of serious negligence and demanded strict punishment for the teachers involved.
Once the video went viral, officials quickly reached the school. Block Education Officer (BEO) D.S. Lakra visited the campus and started a detailed inquiry. He said the report will be sent to senior officials for further action.
District Education Officer (DEO) Ajay Mishra also confirmed the incident and said suitable action would be taken.
Cluster in-charge Manoj Yadav inspected the site and said the behaviour of the teachers was completely unacceptable. The school management acknowledged its mistake and issued a public apology, calling the incident a serious lapse.
Cases of harsh punishment in schools across India have raised serious concerns in recent years. Although most teachers follow proper rules, some incidents, from physical abuse to emotional harm, show shortcomings in monitoring and child protection.
Such incidents have increased demands for strict enforcement of the Right to Education Act, better teacher training, and strong action against anyone who violates a child’s safety.
