A man from Bihar, Pankaj Kumar from Sitamarhi district, was shot and stabbed to death while visiting Nepal. The incident took place late Sunday night in the Langur Khola area of the Sindhuli district.
His family said Pankaj had travelled to Nepal with friends to visit the Madhuganga Mahadev temple. On Monday, Nepal Police found his body with multiple stab wounds and a gunshot injury.
His elder brother, Ranjeet Kumar, collected the body from the Sindhuli mortuary after a post-mortem and brought it back to their village in Bihar on Tuesday.
Ranjeet said that Nepal’s Sindhuli District Police have registered a murder case. They have named Avnish Kumar Das and some unknown people as the accused. The family said that Avnish shot Pankaj while he was resting in a cowshed in Sindhuli.
“After shooting him with what was believed to be a relative’s pistol, Avnish allegedly stabbed Pankaj multiple times and fled the scene when bystanders began gathering,” the family said.
The reason behind the attack is still not clear. The family believes that only the friends who were with Pankaj can explain what really happened.
Police are now investigating the case.
