A video showing a woman police sub-inspector allegedly abusing and threatening a couple during a traffic jam in Uttar Pradesh has gone viral on social media, triggering widespread criticism. The incident is reported to have taken place in Meerut district on Sunday evening, December 29, when traffic was heavily congested on a busy road.

The viral video shows the woman officer stepping out of her car and arguing aggressively with people in another vehicle in full public view. She is allegedly heard using extremely abusive language, including a shocking threat in which she says she would “pee on your face.” The language used in the video has left many social media users angry and disturbed.

According to available information, the incident occurred around 7 pm, when vehicles were stuck bumper-to-bumper due to traffic congestion. The officer was travelling in a Hyundai i20 car and reportedly lost her temper after being stuck in the jam for some time. From inside her vehicle, she allegedly began shouting abuses at motorists ahead of her, demanding they move.

The situation worsened when the officer got out of her car and confronted a couple sitting in another vehicle, allegedly because they did not give her way. In the video, the male occupant of the car is seen questioning the officer about the tone and language she was using. The argument quickly escalated, with the officer continuing to shout and issue threats during the heated exchange.

As the confrontation unfolded, a crowd gathered at the spot, and several bystanders recorded the incident on their mobile phones. One of these videos later surfaced online and spread rapidly across social media platforms, drawing sharp reactions from users. Many people questioned how a police officer could behave in such a manner in public and demanded strict disciplinary action.

Sources have claimed that the woman seen in the video has been identified as Ratna Rathi, a police sub-inspector posted in Aligarh. She was reportedly returning from Saharanpur after completing official work and was passing through Meerut when the incident occurred.

The police have acknowledged the viral video and said that the matter is being looked into. Officials stated that an enquiry will be conducted, and appropriate action will be taken if a formal complaint is filed. Meanwhile, the incident has once again raised questions about police conduct in public spaces and the importance of professional behaviour by law enforcement officers.
