An Australian couple had a shocking experience on a Qatar Airways flight when one of them had to sit next to a dead body. Mitchell Ring and his wife, Jennifer Colin, were flying from Melbourne to Doha when a woman collapsed in the aisle about 10 hours into the 14-hour flight.

The cabin crew tried to revive her, but she did not survive. They then attempted to move her to business class using a wheelchair, but the aisle was too narrow. With no other option, they needed an empty seat. Since Ring had a few vacant seats beside him, they asked him if they could place the body there.

Mitchell Ring said that the cabin crew asked him to move, and he agreed without hesitation. They then placed the woman's body in the seat he had been sitting in.

For the next four hours of the flight, Ring sat in shock, even though there were other empty seats available. His wife, Jennifer Colin, was given a seat across the aisle. The couple said they felt sorry for the woman and her family but believed the airline should have handled the situation better. They felt there should be a proper plan for such incidents.

A Qatar Airways spokesperson expressed condolences to the woman’s family and said they had contacted them to offer support. They also spoke to the affected passengers to address their concerns. The airline added that passenger safety and comfort are their top priorities.

After landing in Doha, Ring said passengers sitting near the body were asked to stay in their seats until the ambulance and police arrived to take it away.

The couple, who were travelling to Venice for a holiday, are still trying to process what happened. Meanwhile, Qatar Airways said they are in touch with them regarding the incident.
