In Chennai, a man recently surprised his employer by giving an unusual reason for taking leave. He said he needed to go back to Nepal urgently because, according to him, “a ghost had possessed his wife.”

This story was shared on social media by the man’s employer, who posted the strange incident on X (formerly Twitter). The post quickly grabbed people’s attention due to how shocking and unusual it was.

The man works as a car cleaner for the user who posted the story. One day, he said he had a family emergency and needed to take a month off. Wanting to help, the employer even offered money for his trip. But then came the shocking part. The man said, “Mere wife ko chudail ne pakad liya hai (A ghost has possessed my wife).”

The employer knew the man’s wife had a heart problem and thought it was a health emergency. However, the man said that this was not just a medical issue, he truly believed it was something supernatural.

What surprised the employer even more was what the man said next. He explained that his wife had started speaking Tamil fluently over the past six months, even though she had never learned the language.

“She’s never learned Tamil,” the post said. “In the last 6 months, she’s started speaking fluent Tamil. Not a few words. Entire sentences. Almost like a native speaker.”

The couple lived in a Nepali neighborhood in Chennai, where people usually speak Nepali and have very little contact with Tamil speakers.

The man had already taken his wife to doctors at a government hospital, but they could not find out what was wrong. Hoping for help, he even took her to a mosque nearby, where religious rituals were done for two months. Sadly, there was no change.

The man said the imam gave him a serious warning: “Take her back home. If she stays here, she may not survive.”

After hearing this, the man decided to return to Nepal with his wife, hoping to find a solution.

The employer ended the post by saying he didn’t know what to make of the situation,  only that it left him speechless.
