The incident took place in the Psychology Department at the university, located in Haringhata, Nadia district.

The videos quickly went viral, sparking criticism and outrage on social media. In response, the university has set up a three-member inquiry panel to look into the incident and has requested an explanation from the professor involved.
The professor defended herself by saying the event was a psycho-drama demonstration aimed at explaining class concepts. She emphasized that it wasn’t a real wedding but rather an academic exercise. She also stated that the videos, meant for internal use only, had been “leaked” without her consent and believed the leak was intended to harm the reputation of the Psychology Department.
Despite her explanation, the university has directed the professor to take leave until the investigation is completed. The student involved has also been told not to attend classes until the inquiry is finished.
Tapas Chakraborty, the officiating vice-chancellor, commented, saying, “The professor clarified that the event was part of a demonstration related to her subject, with no inappropriate conduct. The videos were not intended for public viewing. However, due to the controversy, we have asked her to take leave until the inquiry report is submitted.”
Chakraborty added that the student has also been asked not to attend classes until the investigation is concluded.
