Kaamya Karthikeyan, a 17-year-old girl from Mumbai, became the youngest female ever to climb the highest mountain on each of the seven continents. Her journey started when she was just 7 years old with her first hike in Uttarakhand. Over the years, she climbed famous mountains like Mt. Everest in Asia and Mt. Denali in North America. On December 24, she completed her challenge by reaching the top of Mt. Vinson in Antarctica with her father, Commander S. Karthikeyan, by her side.
A record-breaking achievement
Kaamya is a Class 12 student at Navy Children School in Mumbai. The Indian Navy, proud of her achievement, congratulated her on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle, stating, "Kaamya Karthikeyan, a Class XII student at @IN_NCS Mumbai, scripts history by becoming the youngest female in the world to scale seven highest peaks across seven continents."
The school also expressed immense pride, sharing, “Breaking barriers and reaching new heights! Kaamya Karthikeyan becomes the youngest female in the world to conquer the Seven Summits.”
At the age of 16, Kaamya climbed Mt. Everest, showing her strong will and love for mountaineering. Over the years, she has also climbed other famous mountains like Mt. Kilimanjaro in Africa, Mt. Elbrus in Europe, Mt. Kosciuszko in Australia, Mt. Aconcagua in South America, Mt. Denali in North America, and Mt. Vinson in Antarctica.
Kaamya's achievement is an inspiration, showing that age doesn’t stop you from reaching your dreams. Her journey makes India proud and motivates young adventurers around the world.
