A woman in Texas has been arrested for allegedly selling her newborn baby on Facebook. Juniper Bryson, 21 reportedly posted in an online adoption group just hours after giving birth asking prospective parents for her baby but expecting financial compensation in return. The incident left the internet in shock, with many people expressing interest in the adoption of the child unaware of the Bryson’s demand for money.
Bryson shared a photo of her newborn son in a Facebook group called “The Birth Mother Is Looking for Adoptive Parents.” At first, it looked like she was trying to find an adoptive family, but she also mentioned that she needed money in exchange for the child.
She explained that she was struggling financially and needed help to find housing, get a job, and possibly regain custody of her daughter. She wrote, “It’s not like that, I just need enough to move into an apartment, get a job, or maybe even a cheap car for DoorDash. Nothing too crazy.”
According to ABC News Bryson approached several families and spoke to them about the adoption of the child. One of the families that Bryson spoke to was a same-sex couple who drove overnight from Louisiana to pick up the baby. However, they changed their minds as soon as Bryson demanded money. Initially, she demanded $25 to cover her food delivery expense but later the demand increased to $150.
When the couple decided not to proceed for adoption she stated, “If the baby wasn’t worth $200 to them, then screw it all.”
A local woman, Wendy Williams who grew a friendship with Bryson during her pregnancy also showed interest in adopting the baby. Williams even accompanied Bryson to the hospital, but after Bryson started sending her troubling messages, she confronted her which led to Williams being asked to leave the hospital.
