On Tuesday, July 1, 2025, U.S. President Donald Trump said that Israel has agreed to the necessary conditions for a 60-day ceasefire in Gaza, which may help in ending the war between Israel and Hamas.

In a post on social media, Mr Trump said, "Israel has agreed to the necessary conditions to finalise the 60-day CEASEFIRE, during which time we will work with all parties to end the war." He also added, "The Qataris and Egyptians, who have worked very hard to help bring peace, will deliver this final proposal. I hope, for the good of the Middle East, that Hamas takes this deal, because it will not get better — IT WILL ONLY GET WORSE."

This statement came as Israeli Minister for Strategic Affairs Ron Dermer visited Washington. He is holding talks with top U.S. officials, including Vice President JD Vance, Secretary of State Marco Rubio, and special envoy Steve Witkoff. They are discussing the Gaza ceasefire, Iran, and other important issues.

Meanwhile, more than 150 global charities and humanitarian groups on Tuesday called for ending a U.S.- and Israeli-backed aid distribution system in Gaza. These groups say it has created chaos and deadly violence among Palestinians trying to get food from these aid points.
