US President Donald Trump gave his first speech to the US Congress since returning to power. He said his government has done more in 43 days than most do in 4 or even 8 years.
Trump claimed he had restored "free speech" in the US and discussed his executive orders. He mentioned his order to stop men from competing in women's sports and his decision to officially recognize only two sexes: male and female. He also blamed former President Joe Biden for the high egg prices, saying they are "out of control" and that he is working to lower them.
What Trump said in his first speech
Donald Trump said that the "American Dream" is stronger than ever and that the country is about to make a huge comeback. In the past six weeks, he has signed nearly 100 executive orders and taken over 400 actions to bring back common sense, safety, optimism, and wealth. He said that people chose him for this job, and he is doing it.
Trump also sent the US military and border patrol to stop illegal crossings at the border. He claimed that last month had the lowest number of illegal crossings ever recorded.
He said he canceled several policies, including the Paris Climate Agreement, the World Health Organization (WHO), the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC), and the electric vehicle (EV) mandate from the previous administration.
Trump also called Joe Biden the "worst president in American history" and blamed him for allowing hundreds of thousands of illegal crossings every month. Trump also said that his government has stopped the misuse of power, where a sitting president can go after his political opponent. He added, "How did that work out? Not too good."
He claimed to have restored free speech in America and announced that he recently signed an order making English the official language of the US. Trump said the country will no longer follow "woke" policies. He believes people should be hired and promoted based on their skills, not their race or gender, whether they are doctors, accountants, lawyers, or air traffic controllers.
He also promised to bring down high egg prices and make life more affordable for Americans. He said fixing the economy and helping working families is one of his top priorities. Trump mentioned that his government has removed critical race theory from public schools. He also signed an order making it official that the US government recognizes only two genders: male and female.
Trump said he will take major action this week to boost the production of critical minerals and rare earth materials in the US. He defended tariffs, saying they would help make America rich and strong again. He argued that other countries have been using high tariffs against the US for years, and now it's time for America to do the same. According to Trump, nations like the EU, China, Brazil, India, Mexico, and Canada charge the US much higher tariffs, which he called unfair.
