Pakistan Army Chief Asim Munir recently gave Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif a framed photo as a souvenir, claiming it was from a Pakistani military strike against India. However, social media users quickly discovered that the photo was actually an old image from a Chinese military drill.

The photo features a PHL-03, a multiple rocket launcher made in China. It was first shared in 2019 and is credited to photographer Huang Hai. This same photo has been used several times over the last five years.

The incident happened during a high-level dinner hosted by General Asim Munir. The event was meant to honour the country’s political leaders, its army, and the people of Pakistan for their supposed strength during “Marka-e-Haq – Operation Bunyan-un-Marsoos”. But the event soon became the target of jokes and criticism online.

Social media users pointed out the truth behind the image. One user commented, "Shehbaz Sharif gifted Chinese drill pic as 'Op Bunyan' memento to Pak Army Chief. I don't think they know anything about Google Image Search."

Another user wrote, "Pak PM just gifted Asim Munir a photo from a 2019 Chinese military drill—faking war glory against India. Instead, India provided corroborated evidence of strikes with precision and power during #OperationSindoor. Denial, deception, and delusion remain state policy of Pakistan."
