Nepal’s political crisis deepened on Tuesday when a video surfaced showing Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel being chased and beaten by protesters. In the clip, more than two dozen demonstrators can be seen running after the minister as he sprinted down a road. One man kicked him while others struck him before he managed to escape.
The incident came as Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli resigned following days of violent protests that have shaken the country. At least four ministers from his cabinet have also stepped down.

The unrest began after the Oli government announced a ban on popular social media platforms last week, a move that drew sharp criticism from young Nepalis. Although the ban was lifted on Monday, the protests continued, reflecting deeper anger over corruption and nepotism in government.
On Monday, hundreds of young people poured into the streets of Kathmandu and other cities. Demonstrators set fire to houses of ministers and government offices, turning their frustration into acts of arson and vandalism.
The collapse of the Oli administration marks one of the biggest political upheavals in Nepal in recent years. The protests, driven largely by Gen Z, have turned into a wider call for accountability and an end to corruption in the Himalayan nation.
