Nauru is a tiny island country located in Micronesia, in the South Pacific Ocean. What makes it special is that it is the only country in the world with no official capital city. Despite being a republic, Nauru does not have a city that holds the official title of capital like most other countries.

The country covers just 21 square kilometers and is made up of several small and larger islands. While it has no official capital, the Yaren District acts as the center for government work. This district holds important buildings, including the Parliament House and the airport. It is where the country’s key decisions are made.

Traditionally, the people of Nauru lived in tribes and mostly earned their living from coconut farming. The island is also famous for its beautiful white sandy beaches and coral reefs, which attract visitors from all over the world. Nauru’s population is a little over 10,000, making it the third smallest country by population after Vatican City and Tuvalu.

In the past, Nauru’s economy depended heavily on phosphate mining. This mineral brought great wealth during the 20th century. However, after the phosphate reserves ran low, the country faced money problems and had to find other ways to earn income. These included offshore banking and making visa deals with other countries.

Even with its small size, Nauru takes part in major international sports events like the Olympic Games and the Commonwealth Games. The country also uses the Australian dollar as its official currency.

Though small in size, Nauru is unique and continues to adapt and grow in its own way, standing out on the world map as the only nation without an official capital city.
