Who is Sriram Krishnan?
Sriram Krishnan was born in Chennai, Tamil Nadu, and studied information technology at SRM Engineering College. He moved to the United States in 2005, when he was 21 years old. His father worked in the insurance field, and his mother was a homemaker.
Sriram started his career at Microsoft, where he helped create Windows Azure, a cloud computing platform. Later, he worked at well-known tech companies like Twitter, Yahoo!, Facebook, and Snap. At Facebook and Snap, he created tools for mobile advertising, improving how these companies earned money through ads.
Sriram Krishnan has a strong professional connection with billionaire Elon Musk. He worked with Musk to improve Twitter, now called X, after Musk bought it in 2022. Sriram is a big fan of using technology and focuses on connecting AI systems like OpenAI’s ChatGPT with other online platforms to make them work better together.
In 2021, Sriram joined Andreessen Horowitz, a company that invests in new businesses, as a general partner and later led its London office. He left the company in November 2023.
Sriram also co-hosts a podcast called The Aarthi and Sriram Show with his wife, where they talk about technology and innovation. With his broad experience, Sriram is recognised as a key figure in shaping the future of AI policy.
