Caitlin Sandra Neil, a 19-year-old Chennai-born Indian American, was crowned Miss India USA 2024 at the annual pageant held in New Jersey. A second-year student at the University of California, Davis, Caitlin shared her aspirations to create a positive change in her community. "I aim to make a meaningful and lasting impact, with a focus on women's empowerment and literacy," she said in a media release.
Originally from Chennai, India, Caitlin has lived in the United States for the past 14 years. Aspiring to build a career as a web designer, she also has a passion for modelling and acting. Her victory at the Miss India USA pageant highlights her commitment to making a meaningful contribution to society, while also pursuing personal success in her chosen fields.
The Miss India USA pageant was organized by the India Festival Committee (IFC). Winners other than Caitlin include Sanskriti Sharma from Illinois, who was named Mrs. India USA, and Arshita Kathpalia from Washington, who won the title of Miss Teen India USA. Caitlin Sandra Neil and Sanskriti Sharma received their crowns from the previous year's titleholders, Sneha Nambiar and Rijul Maini.
Nirali Desai from Illinois and Manini Patel from New Jersey were the first and second runners-up in the Miss India USA competition. In the Mrs. India USA category, Sapna Mishra from Virginia and Chinamayee Ayachit from Connecticut were the first and second runners-up.
In the Teen India USA category, Dhriti Patel from Rhode Island and Sonali Sharma were the first and second runners-up. The event saw 47 contestants from 25 states competing in three categories. The pageant continues to provide a platform for Indian-American talent to showcase their skills, heritage, and aspirations.
