A pizza lover in Indiana got slapped with a mysterious $5 "bitching fee" on the bill even though they say they didn't complain at all.
The customer told their story on Reddit in the r/funny section. They were out eating pizza and having drinks with friends when something odd happened. The server brought them a Bud Light when they had asked for a Miller Lite. Since the server had already opened the beer while walking to the table, she couldn't just take it back.
"She had to eat the cost of the Bud Light, giving it to me for free and then got me a Miller on top of it," the customer wrote. "Honestly, there wasn't any bitching involved so I don't know what that was about."
When it was time to pay the $24.78 bill, the customer was shocked to see a $5 "bitching fee" added. Even stranger? The customer didn't even ask about the fee.
"I simply paid and walked away without even bringing it to her attention," they said. "I'm sure she would have been completely mortified if I had." The customer added, "I've bitched enough in my life to know I've earned it. But I don't think I was bitchy then."
It looks like a decent deal to pay $22 for three drinks, a pepperoni pizza, and bitching. Several others joked about the incident in their reactions to the post on Reddit. "Bitching about the bitching fee? One person commented, "That's another bitching fee," while another remarked, "This is funny, but probably a crime." You cannot charge people's cards with fake fees. It's wire fraud. One person said, "This is coming off my bill or they ain’t getting a dime."
While one user noted, "this might be a lawsuit," another made a joke, “Was NO Bitching clearly posted at the entrance? If not, you should sue.” “As a business, can they realistically charge this? Like, how is this not inflating the bill for profit?” one questioned while another joked, “Bitching about being charged for bitching”.
