A woman in Kanpur fought back during an alleged assault by biting off a portion of a man’s tongue after he forcibly kissed her. The man, identified as Champi, is from Dariyapur village and is a married 35-year-old.
Police said the two were in a relationship earlier. However, the woman stopped meeting him after her family fixed her marriage. This upset Champi, who repeatedly tried to meet her.
On Monday, the woman went to a pond to collect clay for her stove. Seeing her alone, Champi followed her and grabbed her. He allegedly molested her and forced a kiss on her.
The woman pushed him away, but when he continued, she bit his tongue so hard that a part of it was severed. Champi immediately started bleeding and screaming in pain.
Hearing the cries, villagers ran to the spot and informed his family. His relatives took him to the local Community Health Center (CHC), where he received first aid. Because of the seriousness of the injury, doctors referred him to Kanpur’s Hallet Hospital.
Deputy Commissioner of Police Dinesh Tripathi confirmed the incident. He said that a case has been registered and that “further legal action” is being taken.
