A woman in Delhi was left surprised after spotting an unusual vending machine at the Rohini East Metro Station. Unlike regular vending machines that usually sell chips or cold drinks, this one was stocked with undergarments.
She shared a video of the machine on social media, reacting with shock and laughter. In the video, she said,
"...I saw something so crazy. A vending machine, man, they are selling underwear in a vending machine! Look! What level of innovation have we reached? Underwear in a vending machine, but it is crazy, man. But who goes to the metro and thinks, 'Oh, I forgot my underwear, let me buy some from here'?"
The video quickly gained attention on Instagram and has crossed over 798,000 views so far. While some viewers found the idea funny, many others supported it and called it a helpful step, especially for women travellers.
The comments section saw a wide range of opinions, with users sharing how such machines could be useful in daily life.
Several users defended the vending machine and said it could help people in unexpected situations. One woman highlighted how it could be useful during periods. She wrote,
"I mean i think its good, the fact the if they have it, we dont have to worry about our periods then or if we get stains or leakage.. I think its good enough,"
Another user suggested adding more useful items and wrote,
"Stationary ka bhi rakho vending machine, Sewing items, tissue paper, hand sanitizer, water colours for kids etc,"
A third user explained that the machine is meant for people with busy lives. The user commented,
"Its not for people who forgot to wear underwear, you need to grow your thinking. in fast moving world, some people might not get time to go to shop, for them they can use. buses and trains are all connected and no time to spare,"
One more user pointed out that vending machines are not limited to snacks. The comment read,
"What's crazy about it, just because you have only seen Coke and chips coming out of a vending machine doesn't mean it's only used for snacks purchasing,"
Vending machines selling daily-use items are already common in countries like Japan, where people can buy essentials easily while travelling.
The undergarment vending machine at the Delhi Metro has now sparked a wider conversation online, with many users seeing it as a practical and modern solution for commuters.
