Manish Dhameja has redefined the way people think about credit cards. Far beyond shopping or paying bills, he has used 1,638 valid credit cards to earn rewards, cashback, and travel benefits, all without taking on any debt. His smart use of credit cards earned him a Guinness World Record on April 30, 2021.
Manish does not collect cards for the sake of it. Instead, he maximizes their benefits, including hotel privileges, airline miles, airport and railway lounge access, shopping vouchers, complimentary fuel, and even golf sessions.
He told Guinness World Records, "I think my life was incomplete without credit cards. I just love credit cards. I enjoy complementary travelling, railway lounge, airport lounge, food, spa, hotel vouchers, complementary domestic flight tickets, complementary shopping vouchers, complementary movies tickets, complementary golf sessions, complimentary fuel, etc. by reaching milestones and using rewards points, airmiles, and cashback."
During India’s 2016 demonetisation, when the country faced a cash shortage, Manish relied on his credit cards and managed his expenses through digital payments with ease. For him, credit cards are more than financial tools. They are a way of life. pic.twitter.com/g7V8Sztl1Z

His story shows that credit cards, when used wisely, can become tools for earning rather than just spending.
Manish also shared his experience during India’s 2016 demonetisation, when Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes were invalidated. He recalled long queues outside banks and ATMs.
He said, "This decision of the government of India had created big panic in India. At that time credit card played an important role in my life. I don't have to rush for cash at the bank, and I was just enjoying spending money digitally through Credit cards."
Manish has a solid academic foundation. He holds a BCA in Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics from CSJM University, Kanpur, an MCA from Integral University, Lucknow, and a Master of Social Work from IGNOU.
