A young tech worker from Delhi has taken social media by storm after getting a huge jump in his salary, from ₹5.5 lakh per year to ₹45 lakh per year. Devesh, who started his career at IBM just last year, shared the news on the platform X (formerly Twitter), where many users were surprised and inspired by his journey.

In his post, Devesh wrote, “Never mentioned it but to be honest, I still sometimes think I am still in a dream, because I started my full time career last year at IBM with just a CTC of 5.5 LPA, and now having an offer of over 45 LPA CTC in hand within an year, for a middle class guy like me, it's still a dream.”

His honesty and excitement struck a chord with many readers online.

People quickly filled the comments with praise and curiosity. One user asked, “In a span of 1 year how does that feel?” Devesh simply replied, “Proud of myself.” Another person asked for career tips, saying, “45 LPA offer within a year? That's incredible, can you share some tips?”

While many people were impressed and motivated, others were a bit doubtful. Some questioned how he managed to land such a big offer so quickly, as companies often base salaries on previous pay.

Devesh clarified that top tech firms usually have fixed salary structures for different roles, so a candidate's past salary isn't a major factor in their decision.

Responding to doubts about his huge pay jump, he wrote on X: “For those wondering how it’s possible to jump from a 5–6 LPA CTC to something like 45 LPA — companies like MAANG or FAANG have predefined pay ranges. It’s the same for everyone applying to that role, and they don’t base their offer on what you were previously earning.”
