An strange scam has come to light in Madhya Pradesh's Damoh district, where twin sisters worked as government school teachers for 18 years using the same name, mark sheets, and documents. At first, it looked like a coincidence, both sisters were named Rashmi and were posted at different schools. But it was later found that they had used the same identity and academic records to get two teaching jobs. Both were earning salaries separately without being caught.

The truth came out when they both applied for a transfer to the same school. Officials noticed that their applications looked almost exactly the same. When they checked further, they saw that the names, degrees, and even marks matched perfectly, something that’s not even possible for identical twins.

After an investigation, it was found that only one of the sisters had a real teaching degree. The other had forged the documents to get the job. Over the years, they managed to quietly draw salaries, fooling the system.Authorities say that the scam has cost the state over Rs 1.5 crore, with the sister who faked her documents earning over Rs 80 lakh alone. After the fraud was caught, one sister resigned, and the other stopped coming to work.

Damoh’s District Education Officer, S.K. Nema, said that during a recent document check, it was found that one sister had submitted original documents, while the other used photocopies. This mismatch led to the full scam being uncovered.

The matter has shaken the education department. An internal audit revealed that 19 other government teachers in the district also got jobs using fake documents. So far, only three have been removed from their jobs, while the remaining 16 are still working and have together taken over Rs 22.93 crore in salaries.
