Astronomer’s CEO Andy Byron and the company’s Chief Public Officer Kristen Cabot stepped down from their jobs after a video of them at a Coldplay concert in Boston went viral in July.

The pair was caught on the stadium’s Kiss Cam during the show on July 16. In the clip, Byron was seen hugging Cabot around the waist as they stood together like a couple. The moment spread quickly across social media.

Less than a month later, on August 13, Kristen Cabot filed for divorce from her husband, Andrew Cabot, in Portsmouth, New Hampshire. The filing came just weeks after the concert incident became public.

Reports suggest the Cabots’ marriage was already under strain. When asked about the Kiss Cam episode, Andrew appeared calm and downplayed the matter.

Andrew’s ex-wife, Julia Cabot, told the Daily Mail that she reached out to him after the video spread online. “Her life has nothing to do with me,” Andrew reportedly told her, adding that he and Kristen were planning to separate anyway.

Julia criticized Andrew, saying, “He’s saying it has nothing to do with him, even though they were married and shared a house. But then, the only thing he cares about is money.”

She also added her views on Kristen: “But she doesn’t seem like wife material either.”

Andrew, who runs the family-owned Privateer Rum company, is from a well-known Boston Brahmin family. For him, this marks a third divorce.

Julia, who was married to him for four years until 2018, said friends had texted her the word “karma” after the scandal. “Personally, I don’t think he’s affected by what happened at all. I don’t think his feelings are hurt. He’s probably embarrassed, if anything,” she said. “He’s not a nice person. Now something not nice happened to him.”

The Daily Mail also reported that the Cabots may have claimed their marriage troubles only after the scandal to limit public embarrassment. A source told the outlet, “The family is now saying they have been having marriage troubles for several months and were discussing separating, which I find interesting since, as of a month ago, they were saying how in love they are.”

Just five months before the concert, Kristen and Andrew had purchased a $2.2 million four-bedroom home near the Atlantic coast, raising further questions about the state of their marriage before the incident.
