A Bihar Sharif clock tower constructed under the Smart City project is being widely trolled on social media after it malfunctioned just a day after it was opened for public viewing. The project costs an estimated ₹40 lakh, as reported by Dainik Bhaskar.

The tower was soon converted into working condition for the chief minister's Pragati Yatra, but things turned sour soon. The following day, thieves entered the tower and stole copper wires, which caused the clock to malfunction.

Individuals on social media not only criticized the swift failure of the clock but also did not like the way it looked. Although some were amused by the minimal design, others were displeased with what they referred to as a "shoddy paint job" and poor finishing.

An X (formerly Twitter) user commented: “This shabbily painted, poorly finished, concrete clock tower in Bihar Sharif, built under the 'Smart City' project, had its clock stop working within 24 hours of inauguration. Guess the production cost? Only ₹40 lakh! Just 40 lakhs for this architectural marvel! Hats off!”

People from Bihar all over India expressed their dismay online. Some termed it an "eyesore" and couldn't believe that it had failed so quickly.

An X user from Bihar commented: “Aesthetics and quality matter. Being future-ready matters. I had spoken against this clock tower the moment I saw this, but somehow people were happy that at least we are getting something.”

Bihar Sharif clock tower was also compared to other clock towers in Indian cities, with many of them saying this one did not quite compare in design or quality.

Now, rather than being a source of pride for the Smart City initiative, the tower is getting all the trolls on the Internet.
