Team India has moved down to fourth place in the latest ICC Test Team Rankings after the annual update. The rankings were updated based on performances over the last few years, with recent matches carrying more weight.

As per the ICC, matches played since May 2024 are now counted at 100%, while games from the previous two years are counted at 50%. This update has helped some teams and affected others.

Australia remains at the top of the Test rankings. They now have 126 rating points, although their lead has slightly reduced from 15 to 13 points. Australia continues to stay strong and is still well ahead of all other teams.

India, however, has slipped down the rankings. They now have 105 rating points and are behind both England and South Africa. England has moved up to second place with 113 points, followed by South Africa in third with 111 points.

India’s drop is mostly because of their recent series losses. They lost a home match to New Zealand and also lost the away series to Australia, which has impacted their overall performance in the rankings.

England’s rise in the rankings is due to their good form in the last year. They have won three out of their last four Test series.

The rankings below the top four remain unchanged. New Zealand are fifth, followed by Sri Lanka, Pakistan, West Indies, Bangladesh, and Zimbabwe. Ireland and Afghanistan are also among the Test-playing nations.

Upcoming Test matches

Test cricket is set to return later this month when Zimbabwe will play a one-off Test match against England. In June, the World Test Championship (WTC) Final will be played between Australia and South Africa at Lord’s.

In the same month, India will begin a five-match Test series against England. This series will also start the fourth edition of the WTC.
