KL Rahul delivered an impressive performance at Arun Jaitley Stadium on Sunday with a brilliant unbeaten century. He scored 112 runs off 65 balls, guiding Delhi Capitals to a solid total of 199 for 3 against Gujarat Titans in a crucial IPL 2025 match.

This was the first time this season that a right-handed batter scored a century. Before this, all four centuries were by left-handed players: Abhishek Sharma (141), Ishan Kishan (106 not out), Priyansh Arya (103), and Vaibhav Suryavanshi (101).

KL Rahul’s innings was special for several reasons. He faced 65 balls, which is the most by any player in this IPL season. This shows that he played carefully and stayed on the field for a long time. His score of 112 not out is also the highest score ever made against the Gujarat Titans, breaking the previous record of 103 not out by Suryakumar Yadav in 2023.

This century was Rahul’s fifth in the IPL and seventh in all T20 cricket. This makes him tied for third place among Indian players with the most T20 hundreds, alongside Abhishek Sharma. Only Virat Kohli (9) and Rohit Sharma (8) have more.

Here are the Indian players with the most hundreds in T20 cricket: Virat Kohli leads with 9, Rohit Sharma has 8, while Abhishek Sharma and KL Rahul both have 7. In the IPL, Virat Kohli has scored the most hundreds with 8, followed by Jos Buttler with 7, Chris Gayle with 6, and KL Rahul with 5.

During his recent innings, KL Rahul also became the fastest Indian to reach 8,000 runs in T20 cricket. He achieved this in 224 innings, which is 19 innings quicker than Virat Kohli, who reached it in 243 innings. Only Chris Gayle (213 innings) and Babar Azam (218 innings) reached 8,000 runs faster than Rahul. Mohammad Rizwan – 244

Delhi Capitals’ mentor Kevin Pietersen praised Rahul, saying, "KL wanted to open again, and it’s just so good to watch him in full flow. Watching world-class players like him execute under pressure — that’s special. But it’s only half the job done.”
