Carlos Alcaraz from Spain defeated Jannik Sinner in four sets to win the US Open, earning his sixth Grand Slam title and reclaiming the world number one ranking. The 22-year-old Spaniard won 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4, avenging his earlier loss to Sinner at Wimbledon and ending the Italian’s 27-match winning streak on hard courts in Slam tournaments.
After the match, Alcaraz said, “It's a great feeling... It’s still a dream come true.” This is his second US Open trophy. Alcaraz has now beaten Sinner in seven of their last eight matches, including the French Open final in June, making their rivalry one of the most notable in men’s tennis. Between them, they have shared the last eight Grand Slam titles.

Sinner admitted that Alcaraz played better. “I tried my best today. I couldn't do more,” Sinner said. “I felt like he was doing everything slightly better today. He raised his level when he had to… He played better than I did today.”
Alcaraz’s win also continues a historic trend: no man has defended the US Open title since Roger Federer from 2004 to 2008.
The final attracted a celebrity-studded crowd, including Bruce Springsteen, Michael Douglas, Stephen Curry, and Tommy Hilfiger. However, US President Donald Trump drew the most attention. His appearance caused a 30-minute delay due to heightened security, and the 23,000-seat Arthur Ashe Stadium was only about three-quarters full at first serve.
The US Open organisers said, “As a result of the security measures in place, and to ensure that fans have additional time to get to their seats, we have pushed the start time of today’s match to 2:30 pm ET.” Trump received a mixed reaction from the crowd, cheered on entry, but booed when shown on the big screen later. Despite the distractions, Alcaraz remained focused and delivered a commanding performance, showing why he is one of the top players in men’s tennis and cementing his growing rivalry with Sinner.
