DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, who is leading an all-party delegation to Spain, gave a strong message about India’s identity when asked about the country’s national language. She said, “The national language of India is unity and diversity. That is the message this delegation brings to the world, and that is the most important thing today.”

She was answering a question from a member of the Indian diaspora in Madrid. This reply comes at a time when there is tension between the DMK-led Tamil Nadu government and the central government over the issue of language. The recent disagreement is about the three-language formula mentioned in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

Kanimozhi's words highlight the idea that India does not have just one language but many, and all are equally important. Her message of “unity in diversity” reflects the strength of the Indian culture, where people speak different languages but still live together peacefully.

Speaking on another issue, she also addressed the topic of terrorism and safety in India. She said, “So much has to be done in our country, and we want to do that. Unfortunately, we are being diverted. We have to deal with terrorism and war, which is absolutely unnecessary.”

She added, “As Indians, we have to make the message clear that India is safe. They may try whatever they want; they cannot derail us. We will ensure that Kashmir remains a safe place.”

Spain is the final stop of the team’s five-nation visit. The delegation includes members from different political parties like the Samajwadi Party, BJP, AAP, and RJD, and a former diplomat.
