Anupama Padmakumar, who had been in the news for her alleged involvement in a child abduction case in Kerala’s Kollam district, is back on social media. She was granted bail by the Kerala High Court to pursue her law studies (LLB) in Bengaluru. Following her release, Anupama has been posting updates on Instagram, including short videos known as Reels.

Her latest reel, shot in front of the famous Sree Padmanabhaswamy temple, has attracted about 8,000 likes. Many users have commented on the post, with some referencing her connection to the child kidnapping case. However, Anupama has chosen not to respond to these remarks.

Anupama’s bail was granted by Justice CS Dias under specific conditions. She must appear before the investigating officer on the third Saturday of every month and is prohibited from entering Kollam district for any reason other than these appearances.

Details of the child abduction case

The kidnapping incident occurred on November 27, 2023, when a six-year-old girl was abducted in Oyoor by a group traveling in a car. Anupama’s parents, Mampallykunnam Kavitarajil Padmakumar and Anitha, were also accused in the case. Reports suggest that the kidnappers initially demanded a ransom of Rs 10 lakh. However, they eventually abandoned the child at an ashram, leading to her safe recovery.
