Three minor girls from Maharashtra allegedly faked their own kidnapping in an attempt to make money and travel to South Korea to meet their favorite K-pop band, BTS, police reported on Monday.
The girls, aged 11 and 13, are from Dharashiv district. According to officials from Omerga police station, they had planned to go to Pune to earn money for the trip.
On December 27, Dharashiv police received an emergency call reporting that three girls had been forcibly taken in a school van from Omerga taluka in the district.
The police acted swiftly and traced the call to a woman on a state transport bus traveling from Omerga to Pune.
The police tracked the bus as it passed through Mohol in Solapur district. They collaborated with local officers and a woman from a shop near the bus stand. With her assistance, the girls were removed from the bus and brought to the police station. The Omerga police, along with the girls' parents, later arrived to reunite with them.
The following day, the police questioned the girls, who revealed that they had planned to travel to Pune, work there, and earn money to visit South Korea and meet their favorite BTS band members, according to the official.
