Mount Everest, the world’s tallest mountain, has been captured in a breathtaking new way, from the edge of space. The image, taken by NASA astronaut Don Pettit from the International Space Station (ISS), shows the majestic Himalayan range and the snow-capped summit of Everest glowing under sunlight.
Sharing the photo on his X (formerly Twitter) account, Pettit wrote,
“Orbiting the Himalaya mountain range. Mount Everest is in this photo, with much of Nepal visible as well.”
The stunning picture, showing Nepal’s dramatic landscape from orbit, has left space lovers and nature enthusiasts across the globe mesmerised.
Since it was posted, the photograph has drawn over three lakh views in just two days, sparking a wave of admiration online.

Many users praised the rare perspective of the planet’s highest peak. One commented, “This photo makes you realise going to space is way cooler than climbing Mount Everest.” Another joked, “Can you see all the trash up there that the human train has left? What a joke that hike has become!”
Some were simply moved by the planet’s beauty. “Earth is soo beautiful,” wrote one user, while another said, “Planning a visit to Tibet, Mt. Everest, and Nepal next Spring. Hopefully, it all works out. So excited. It’s really cool to see it all from space! Thanks for sharing.”
Amid light-hearted remarks, one viewer teased, “Must you always add a curve at the corner?” while another called the view “breathtaking.”
