Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday inaugurated a new residential complex for Members of Parliament on Baba Kharak Singh Marg in New Delhi. The modern project has 184 spacious flats spread across four 23-storey towers named Krishna, Godavari, Kosi, and Hooghly.
Each flat covers around 5,000 square feet, making them even larger than the elite Type-VIII bungalows in Lutyens’ Delhi. The homes include five bedrooms with attached dressing areas and bathrooms, a family lounge, a drawing and dining room, a puja room, and modular kitchens.
Two independent staff units are also part of each flat, complete with a kitchenette and bathroom. Balconies extend from every room to allow fresh air and sunlight. Wooden flooring is used in the office and master bedroom, while other rooms have vitrified tiles. Double-glazed windows help keep the flats insulated, and a modern VRV system provides air conditioning.
Move-in ready with modern facilities
The flats come fully equipped with a video door phone, WiFi, central cable TV, a telephone system, piped natural gas, RO water filters, refrigerators, and kitchen geysers.
Amenities for MPs and guests
The complex also has a six-storey amenities block with a canteen, gym, yoga space, community hall, dispensary, service centre, guest rooms, shops, and club facilities. Parking space for up to 612 vehicles is available in two basement levels.
Eco-friendly and built to last
The housing complex follows green building standards, featuring solar rooftop panels, rainwater harvesting, water recycling, dual plumbing, energy-efficient lighting, low-flow fixtures, and garbage chutes. It has a GRIHA 3-star rating and meets the 2016 National Building Code.
Built with strong monolithic concrete and aluminium shuttering, the structures are earthquake-resistant and designed to last over 100 years.
At the launch, PM Modi planted a Sindoor sapling, met with workers, and said the residences would improve MPs’ “ease of living,” cut costs on rented housing, and reflect “Ek Bharat, Shreshtha Bharat.” He also encouraged MPs to celebrate regional cultures and keep the premises clean through friendly competitions.
Located close to Parliament House, Rashtrapati Bhavan, and government offices, the complex ensures MPs can reach key locations quickly while enjoying state-of-the-art living facilities.
