Delhi-based Manforce, a leading brand under Mankind Pharma, claims to be India’s largest and most-selling condom brand, even in a “sex-shy” society. On the podcast Figuring Out With Raj Shamani, Rajeev Juneja, MD of Mankind Pharma, shared insights into an often-overlooked topic: the most and least popular condom flavours among Indian consumers.
Sharing insights on condom preferences across India during the podcast Juneja revealed that chocolate and strawberry are the highest-selling flavours, while unflavored condoms sell the least.
Juneja also mentioned that paan-flavored condoms have low sales but still find a niche market in regions like Uttar Pradesh. He also noted, “Paan sells in a specific region, while jasmine is very popular in the south. People in the south prefer floral flavours.”
“Jasmine sells a lot in the south. People there really like jasmine,” said Rajeev Juneja. He explained that paan-flavoured condoms are specific to certain regions, while jasmine-flavoured condoms are especially popular in the south, where floral flavours are preferred.
Condom sales see a rise during Navratri in Gujarat, added Juneja. When asked about the best-selling products in East and West India, Rajeev said that people in these regions are cosmopolitan and open to diverse options. He also clarified that flavours like kala khatta and sabudana are just "gimmicks" created for buzz and are not sold in the market. Regarding the claim of high condom sales during Navratri in Gujarat, Rajeev confirmed, “Yes, during Navratri, with the lively garba celebrations, sales tend to increase.”
A lack of sexual health education can make it difficult to recognize symptoms of sexually transmitted infections (STIs), increasing the risk of contracting infections, unwanted pregnancies, and reproductive system diseases.
