A group of female diplomats from nine countries visited Gujarat to learn about Adani Group’s renewable energy projects. The team included ambassadors and high-ranking officials from countries like Luxembourg, Romania, and Slovenia. They praised the efforts of women working on these projects. During their visit, they spoke with female engineers and women from self-help groups (SHGs) supported by the Adani Foundation. The visit aimed to show how having more women in workplaces can help a country grow economically.
Women’s role in renewable energy
The women diplomats visited Adani Green Energy’s large clean energy plant in Khavda, Kutch district. There, they met female engineers and talked about how having more women in workplaces helps a country grow.
During their visit, they saw how modern technology and eco-friendly methods are being used together to produce energy.
According to Adani Group, “The ambassadors saw firsthand how the renewables project is integrating cutting-edge technology with sustainable development, including the Energy Network Operations Centre (ENOC) overseen by women engineers.” This means women are playing an important role in managing and controlling the plant’s energy systems.
Apart from the clean energy plant, the envoys also visited Mundra Port. This port is important because it handles about 11% of India’s maritime cargo and 33% of the country’s container traffic. They explored the Electronics Manufacturing Cluster (EMC) in the Mundra Special Economic Zone (SEZ), where international companies are investing in new manufacturing technologies.
Empowering women in economic growth
During their visit, the ambassadors and high officials met women working in different jobs at Adani Group’s projects. They also spoke with women from self-help groups (SHGs) supported by the Adani Foundation. These groups help women earn money by making handmade products and running small businesses.
Romanian Ambassador Sena Latif shared her thoughts after visiting the site. She said, “It was impressive to see the workforce of the Adani Foundation. We saw young engineers just recruited from the campus and brought to laboratories here. They are contributing to their family welfare but... to the whole social and economic development of India. It is very good news for the whole world.”
Latif praised Adani Group for turning unused land into solar power plants and factories. She said these projects help people get jobs and also supply energy to India. She also shared that Romania wants to work with India on future projects.
Lesotho’s High Commissioner, Lebohang Valentine Mochaba, gave an encouraging message to women engineers. She said, “My message to you is that, as a woman, you are an engineer of the society you are living in, an engineer of your family. You have to be brave, you have to be focused, and you have to lead the nation in important roles.”
Lithuanian Ambassador Diana Mickeviciene was also impressed with how the project has changed barren land into a source of energy. She said, “Women are working at all positions in the group, from the operational level to the top management... So it’s empowering that women are at the forefront of the green transformation of India.”
A Strong Message for Women on International Women’s Day
The visit happened just before International Women’s Day, making it a meaningful experience for the delegation. Seychelles High Commissioner Lalatiana Accouche mentioned that she is the first woman from her country to serve as a high commissioner in India. She thanked the Adani Group and said, “Women will play the most important role in the education and growth of children.”
Estonia’s Ambassador Marje Luup appreciated the work being done at the renewable energy projects. She said, “It was very interesting to see women working in diverse areas. It was impressive to see production of solar panels at such a large scale and participation of women in it.” She also had an inspiring message for Indian women, saying, “It is always important to dream big to achieve them one day.”
Moldova’s Ambassador Ana Taban hoped to see more Indian women in leadership roles. She said that she would take home some handicraft items made by SHG women as a memory of her visit.
Luxembourg’s Ambassador Peggy Frantzen also shared her thoughts. She said, “I was impressed to see the project and so many young women engineers participating in the growth of the business, which promoted empowering women at social and economical fronts.”
Slovenian Ambassador Mateha Vodeb Ghosh also appreciated Indian women’s efforts. She said, “The stories we saw here are very encouraging, and it seems Indian women are ready to participate, and they are taking efforts to get engaged in economic development and providing support to the families.”
The visit by these foreign diplomats showed how important women are in India’s renewable energy and economy. They praised and encouraged women for their work. The Adani Group’s projects in Gujarat not only produce clean energy but also give women chances to work and help India grow. With more projects like this, women in India will have a better future in the workforce.
