In Maharashtra’s Parbhani district, a young couple allegedly threw their newborn baby out of a moving bus. The woman, who is 19 years old, and the man, who is 21 years old, were arrested soon after. The couple has been identified as Ritika Dhere and Altaf Shaikh. According to the police, the two were in a relationship despite belonging to different castes. They had been living together before this incident. On Tuesday morning, they were travelling from Pune to Parbhani on a private bus when the woman went into labour. She gave birth to a baby while still on the bus.

After the delivery, when the bus reached the outskirts of a town called Pathri around 6:30 am, the couple allegedly decided to throw the newborn baby out of the window. Unfortunately, the baby died after being thrown from the moving bus. A woman passenger on the bus witnessed this shocking act and immediately reported it to the police. Acting quickly, the police stopped the bus when it reached Parbhani and arrested the couple.

The police have filed a case against them at Pathri police station under Sections 94(3) and 94(5) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), which deal with hiding the birth of a child and secretly disposing of a body. The woman, Ritika Dhere, has been admitted to the Parbhani Government Hospital for medical treatment after delivering the baby. Altaf Shaikh, the man involved, is currently in police custody and is being questioned further.

This incident has shocked people in the area and raised serious concerns about the safety and mental health support for young couples, especially in inter-caste relationships. The investigation is ongoing, and the police are trying to understand what led the couple to take such an extreme step.
