After India’s recent air operation called Operation Sindoor, people in the country are not just angry at Pakistan, but also at Turkey. Many Indians are now upset and are calling for a travel ban to Turkey.
On social media, many Indians are sharing posts saying people should not travel to Turkey. This happened after reports claimed that Turkey gave drones to Pakistan just after India carried out airstrikes on terror camps in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK).
The airstrikes were India’s direct answer to a very sad and deadly terror attack in Pahalgam, Jammu and Kashmir. The attack took place on April 22 and led to the death of 26 civilians. Even though India and Pakistan later agreed to stop firing across the border, the anger among Indian citizens hasn’t cooled down.
The Indian government canceled the security clearance of Celebi Aviation, a company from Turkey. This company helps manage several important tasks at Indian airports, like baggage handling, cleaning planes, and loading cargo. It works at some of the busiest airports in India, including those in Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru.
What is Celebi Aviation?
Celebi Aviation is a company that started in Turkey in 1958. It was the first private ground handling service in Turkey. Today, it provides airport services in many parts of the world. The company is present in six countries, operates at 70 airports, and has more than 15,000 employees.
In India, Celebi has been working to give high-quality ground services at airports. But now, without the security clearance, its operation in India could be in trouble.
People on the internet are sharing their anger using hashtags like #BoycottTurkey and #BanCelebi. Some are asking for the Indian government to cut ties with Turkey completely. Many believe Turkey should not be part of India’s important airport operations if it supports Pakistan.
India and Turkey have not always agreed on many issues in the past few years. This latest situation has added more pressure to the relationship. The cancellation of Celebi’s clearance shows that India is taking the matter seriously.
